IV Sets

IV sets, also known as intravenous infusion sets, are medical devices used to deliver fluids, medications, or nutrients directly into a patient’s bloodstream through an IV cannula. A standard IV set includes several key components: a spike (to puncture the fluid bag), a drip chamber (to monitor and control the flow rate), a roller or slide clamp (to regulate or stop the flow), a long sterile tubing (to carry the fluid), and a connector or luer lock at the end (to attach to the cannula or other IV access device). Some IV sets may also include filters to remove air bubbles or particulate matter, and Y-injection sites for adding medications during infusion. IV sets are essential in hospitals and clinical settings for hydration, medication administration, blood transfusion, and nutritional support. They are usually single-use to ensure sterility and prevent infection.
